You mentioned “the NUC works fine with other USB 3.0 disk on key” I just wanted to check, are those other disks on key Sandisk? The reason why I wanted to check on that is because the problem seems to be related to compatibility between the NUC and that specific USB 3.0 disk on key. Please provide the brand of them if they are not Sandisk.

There might be a option to do a firmware update on the disk on key, did you check about that directly with Sandisk? I looked on their web site but I did not found any information about that:
