NUC6i7KYK iris pro graphic 580 not playing 4k

I have purchased a NUC6i7KYK with iris pro graphic 580. I have 32gb of ram and not much installed on it. It is doing everything perfect except playing files that is in 4k.

My latest attempt was an mkv file in 4K 2160p HEVC10 SDR. I have tried it in VLC and the 265 HEVC plugin for chrome. The movie starts playing but is staggering along, where as the latter player informs me that "the computer is to slow to decode the movie in realtime", something I really doubt. I have updated the graphics driver to to be sure.

The computer is connected to a yamaha rx 3060 with a HDMI 2.0 approved monster cable, so all should be good there. I have tried with various 4k encoded movies, same result each time.

Any idea what this could be? No matter what player or settings I choose I cannot get the pc to play 4k.

Thank you in advance for your assistance.
