    i7-7700hq unable to overclock

    daveju

Hey I went through the trouble of repasting my laptop but unfortunately I can't find a way to overclock the CPU. It's not listed in the BIOS and Intel Extreme Tuning Utility has the sliders greyed out. It also says the platform doesn't support overclocking at the top. Is this a BIOS version issue? If so, how do I remedy this? Please help as I'd like to take advantage of this!

      Windows 10 Alienware 17 R4

      Bios:

      Alienware version 1.0.5

      Motherboard:
      Kaby Lake

      0MMXTT
      A00

      CPU:
      Intel I7-7700HQ

          Hello daveju,

Thank you for contacting the Intel community.

Please bear in mind that the processors that can be overclock are the unlock processors, this processor is not an unlock processor so it cannot be overclock and the multipliers will be disabled, perhaps you can alter the voltage to increase performance but we don’t recommend it since Intel does not support overclock.
