I have a Lenovo PC running Windows 10. Intel HD Graphics (8.15.10.2900). Processor is i3-550.
I just bought a Samsung U28E590D monitor, but can't get my computer to support 3840x2160.
Is it hopeless? Thanks in advance for your time ...

This is the spec sheet for my processor. Unlike other sheets I have seen, this one doesn't state a maximum supported resolution in the graphics section:

Hello thomasabowden:
Thank you very much for joining the Intel® graphics communities.
In regard to your inquiry, the processor will not support that type of resolution.
The max resolution it supports will be 2560x1600 when using display port, HDMI or VGA video ports, in order to confirm that information please verify the following link, under the "Display and Audio Features Comparison":
https://software.intel.com/en-us/articles/hd-graphics-quick-reference-guide https://software.intel.com/en-us/articles/hd-graphics-quick-reference-guide
Any further questions, please let me know.

Alberto, thank you so much for your prompt response!!
I am very interested in obtaining 2560x1600 resolution for my new UHD monitor. However, the highest available option (showing in the Intel graphics control interface) is 1920x1080.
Can you help me with what steps I would have to take to access 2560x1600? I have tried updating my Intel drivers, and I am unable to load anything more current than 8.15.10.2900.
(I ran the Intel identification program -- let me know if it would help to paste in all the info.)

Hello thomasabowden:
You are welcome.
In order to further assist you, please provide the following details:
What is the model of the motherboard or PC?
If this is a laptop, what is the model of the laptop?
What is the video port you are using?
Yes, if you can attach that file to the thread it will be very useful.
Any questions, please let me know.

Hello thomasabowden:
Thank you very much for providing that information and those files.
Based on the graphics report that shows all the resolutions supported by the monitor, the 2560x1600 resolution is not listed there, so it seems to be the TV itself does not support that resolution.
For testing purposes, do you have the option to test the PC with a different monitor?
In some cases some features are disable by the manufacturer of the TV, so as an option you can always check with Samsung directly to find out if maybe there is a firmware update for your monitor in order for it to be able to detect all the possible resolutions supported by the processor.
I look for that information on Samsung's web site but I did not found it:
http://www.samsung.com/us/computing/monitors/uhd-and-wqhd/samsung-uhd-28-monitor-with-high-glossy-black-finish-lu28e590ds-za/# support http://www.samsung.com/us/computing/monitors/uhd-and-wqhd/samsung-uhd-28-monitor-with-high-glossy-black-finish-lu28e590ds-za/# support
Samsung's contact information:

Any questions, please let me know.

Alberto
