NUC6i7kyk won't update chipset device software for intel nuc from 10.1.1.38 to 10.1.1.42

    tpjuk

I'm using the Intel Driver Update Utility (Version 2.7.2.4) to update my Windows 10 Pro 64bit.

Several of the packages download but don't install for example the Intel Chipset Device Software, Intel Rapid Storage Technology, Intel ME, Intel Gigabit Ethernet and Thunderbolt Driver.

I've tried running the packages from the downloads folder and running with administrator privileges, in each case they appear to install, but when you run the Intel Driver Update Utility they show they are the old versions.

However the Graphics driver did update using the driver update utility to version 4590.

          Hello tpjuk

Do not use the Intel Driver Update Utility and disregard this utility findings.  It doesn't work correctly. Download the drivers and update your NUC manually.

          Hope it will help

I've already done that previously.  How can you make sure that you are on 10.1.1.42 as the Intel Driver Update Utility just continually reports its on 10.1.1.38.

            Thanks

              Hello tpjuk,

Thank you for contacting the Intel community.

This is an issue that it needs to be fixed on the Intel® Driver Update Utility, I suggest you to update the drivers manually as lw1948 has mentioned above.

The IDUU shows the new driver as an old version, please ignore that and manually update drivers.

              Best regards,

              Ivan.

So - I've downloaded the chipset driver.  Run the install which completes successfully and rebooted.

But Device Manager is still reporting the driver is 10.1.1.38

Try this, this was posted somewhere here before and it worked for me.

Copy setupchipset.exe (from extracted 10.1.1.42 zip file) to desktop.

                      Run command prompt.

                      type: cd desktop

                      type: setupupchipset.exe -overall

                      That should do it.

                      Paul

Let's be clear on what is happening here. The Intel Chipset Software (a.k.a. INF Update) package does not install any device drivers. It installs configuration (INF) files that configure existing, Windows-supplied device drivers to work optimally with the Intel silicon.

If you have the 10.1.1.38 version of the package installed and you then do a normal install of the 10.1.1.42 (or any other later) version of the package, it is going to update the INF files that have been changed. Any that have not been changed will not be updated - simply because they do not need to be. Only by running the executable with the -overall parameter will it always update (replace) the INF files.

Frankly, I would prefer that the INF files always be updated (i.e. -overall be the default), but there are reasons why this is not done - like avoiding a reboot if possible.

                        Hope this helps,

                        ...S

                            Hi.

I've got an Intel NUC5i5RYH using chipset 10.1.1.32. I'm trying to upgrade to 10.1.1.42 but experiencing the same issue of it not installing (according to the Intel Driver Update Utility). So was hoping this was going to solve the problem:

Copy setupchipset.exe (from extracted 10.1.1.42 zip file) to desktop.

Run command prompt (I ran as admin, just in case)

                            type: cd desktop

                            type: setupupchipset.exe -overall

                            ... but no luck.

I thought maybe the problem is that I'm trying to upgrade from too far behind.... perhaps I should upgrade to, say, 10.1.1.38 first, then when that's successful, try the upgrade to 10.1.1.42. This assumes that I can find earlier versions.

                            Any ideas anyone?

                            Thanks v much.

Hmmm, ok, so assuming I'm looking in the right place, my PC *is* updated to the latest 10.1.1.42 chipset. Agreed?

Bit frustrating then that Intel driver utility is still reporting that it's on 10.1.1.32, even though I ran the command setupupchipset.exe -overall

                                ?

Yet another reason why folks shouldn't use the Intel Driver Update Utility until it is rewritten to work properly...
