Lack of Windows 8.1 32-bit HDMI Drivers

    mikep23

So after wasting a bunch of time I found that Intel has neglected to provide Windows 8.1 32-bit HDMI Drivers for some of the compute sticks. No I don't want Windows 10 Home which is a handicaped version of Windows.

Annoying after all these years that vendors like Intel refuse to provide proper driver support.

          Hello mikep23,

Could you please confirm what is the Intel® Compute Stick that you referring to? Based on the tags you added the models are Intel® Compute Stick STK1A32SC and Intel® Compute Stick STK1AW32SC. If this is the case, I would like to share the following link; Supported Operating Systems for Intel® Compute Stick, there you will be able to corroborate that for the Intel® Compute Stick STK1A32SC with Windows 8.1 32-bit there is no graphics driver available, and for the Intel® Compute Stick STK1AW32SC the supported operating system is Windows® 10  32-bit.

          Hope this helps.

          Regards,

          Amy.

Thanks Amy. There seems to be confusion at Intel about what Windows OS's the Compute Sticks support,

Here's the web link you gave me..

Supported Operating Systems for Intel® Compute Stick

            Here's the tech Product Specs...

            STK1AW32SC_STK1A32SC_TechProdSpec.pdf

            1.3 Operating System Overview

The Intel Compute Stick STK1AW32SC has Windows 10 Home 32-bit pre-installed with all

            necessary drivers.

The Intel Compute Stick STK1A32SC supports the following Operating Systems (32-bit or 64-bit).

            • Windows* 10 Home

            • Windows 10 Pro

            • Windows 10 Enterprise

            • Windows 10 Education

            • Windows 10 IoT Enterprise

            • Windows 8.1

            • Windows 8.1 Pro

            • Windows 8.1 Enterprise

            • Windows Embedded 8.1 Industry

            • Windows Embedded 8.1 Pro

Installation of any of the above operating systems will require a powered USB hub, wired USB

mouse and keyboard along with a USB flash drive or USB optical drive.

So Windows 8.1 should be supported but it's not as the Intel HDMI Video drivers are missing from your site.

mikep23, as you can check in both links the supported operating systems for the Intel® Compute Stick STK1AW32SC is Windows® 10 Home 32-bit, and is also upgradeable to Windows 10 Pro. For the Intel® Compute Stick STK1A32SC Windows 8.1 is supported, this is also mentioned in the both links we posted; however, the support for this operating system is limited, and the limitation for this one is that there is no graphics driver available.

As a suggestion, you can can consider this model; Intel® Compute Stick STCK1A32WFC which fully support Windows 8.1 32-bit including the Intel® HD Graphics driver.

mikep23 if you have more questions, please let me know.

              Regards,

              Amy.
