Replacing my I5-6400 with I7-7700K??

Hello.

I have an Acer TC-710 with an I5-6400 on it. I have been offered an I7-7700K by by someone I know. He say that it's the fastest cpu I can upgrade on my board.

I want to verify if it's true. He sell it as a really low price.

I am not a computer wiz, but since it's the same chipset/socket, I guess it's possible.

Thank you for your answer.

These two processors are socket compatible: http://ark.intel.com/compare/97129,88185 Intel® Product Specification Comparison

However, that does not mean you can swap one for the other. You must contact ACER and ask them if the i7-7700K is supported by THEIR BIOS.

If you attempt to do this upgrade without that information, you could damage your system.

Hello Crimson_moncle,

Al Hill is right, you computer manufacturer determines the processor compatible with your motherboard, at this point I strongly recommend contacting you computer manufacturer and ask if this processor is compatible with your system before buying it.

You should be able to get support at the following link:

https://www.acer.com/ac/en/US/content/support-product/6393?b=1 Product support

NOTE: This link is being offered for your convenience and should not be viewed as an endorsement by Intel of the content, products, or services offered there.

Best wishes,

Ivan.
