Page 73 of the "Technical Product Specification" states what POST Codes 50 and 51 stand for:
and page 75 describes what "EB" is:
Hence, since the above POST Codes refer to either the PCI controller or CD/DVD-ROM, I recommend the following:
Unplug the power cord, remove all non-basic components, connect the power cord back in and try to boot up the system. If problem does not take place, try installing the other components one at the time until you find out which is the conflicting one.
- A basic computer configuration would consist of the following: keyboard, mouse, processor, memory, hard drive, and monitor. No other add-in should be installed.
- Sometimes, devices such as PCI cards or optical drives require firmware updates and/or the BIOS on the board to be updated. As for the BIOS updates for the Intel(R) Desktop Board DG41RQ, please, know these are found here.
Hope that helps!
I am also having this trouble with one of our machines.
If I remove the hard-drive it detects and boots from the XP CD, however as soon as I move the same cables to the hard-drive (leaving the cd-rom disconnected) I only get the splash screen with the 50 in the corner.
Using both hard-drive and cd-rom also stops the computer on the splash-screen.
The only expansion card is a graphics card (Geforce 8400 GS) in the PCI-E bus. Removing this still causes the same problem.
