Unsupported board with unsupported OS. Three years now since XP support was ended by Microsoft. If anyone could help, it would be Microsoft as this is a driver issue on XP. And, Microsoft will not help.
I would try posting in https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows
However, I am certain you will get the same result there.
On "modern" motherboards, there is no support for PCI built into the chipset. The motherboards that do provide PCI slots do so using bridge I/Cs. There are many PCI devices and device capabilities that do not work well in these slots. I am speculating that this is one of those cases. Your best bet for adding a joystick/gamepad is to look for one that has a USB interface.
Hope this helps,
I´d like to thanks your fast answers.
It´s right that is a matter of compatibility, once everything was fine with my older MB (ASUS, dual core)
I´m very sad to give up on my old Microsoft sidewinder...
We can close this case, once I bought a new usb game controller.
I bought an USB -> gameport adaptor, but does not work with my MS Sidewinder FFB Whell.
Well, its time for this wonderfull controller to rest.
Thanks to all that support this thread.
Too bad. The adapter is *supposed* to work with Sidewinder units. Ah well...
It´s almost true.
These adaptors work with MS FF joystick (3D pro) if i´m not wrong.
The FFB wheel uses a special comunication protocol called OVERDRIVE (MS patent).
Thanks again for your help.
