    Intel 535 240 GB - not recognized.

    hejhejmaciej

      Hi guys,

I have got problem with my Intel 535 240GB. Sometimes it is not recognized in BIOS, sometimes it works for a while and then PC freezes (I cant install fresh OS). I updated motherboard firmware (Asrock Z77 Extreme4), firmware of SSD is up-to-date (RG21), performed secure erase. Nothing helped.

      Please help!

      Best regards,

      Maciej

          Hello hejhejmaciej,

The Intel® SSD 535 Series uses a power saving featured named "DevSleep" (device sleep). This feature allows your SSD to enter into an extreme low power state to reduce power consumption from watts to milliwatts whenever possible.

While this is a great feature, if your motherboard does not fully support it, there can be issues when trying to wake the drive back from it's DevSleep power state. On some motherboards the BIOS and OS are enabling the feature, but the motherboard does not signal to wake the SSD back up. Because of this, you system may freeze, and a hard reboot may be required for the drive to be detected again.

Since this is a feature and not an issue, our main recommendation is to make sure that your BIOS has been fully updated. In most cases, this by itself will resolve your problems:

          - ASRock* Z77 Extreme4* BIOS downloads.

If updating your BIOS does not fix your detection issues, then you will need to disable DevSleep altogether. We have created a special firmware release for cases such as these:

          - Enable/Disable DevSleep User Guide.

We hope this information helps. Please let us know if further assistance is needed.

          Best regards,
          Carlos A.

My BIOS is up-to-date. I tried disabling DevSleep, but my SSD is marked as green badge, update is not available.

            Best regards,

            Maciej

              hejhejmaciej,

Please make sure that any Drive Password Protection feature on your BIOS has been disabled and try again.

If after this the Firmware Update Tool still refuses to let you install the DevSleep firmware, you may need to contact support in order to place a warranty request.

              Best regards,
              Carlos A.
