Hello, I have faced with screen flickering on and off (randomly around every 5-20 seconds) after updating to windows 10. I have searched more than 3 weeks and I did so many things:

1- Disabling windows error reporting service

2- updating graphic card driver

3- getting all update from Microsoft regarding to windows 10

...

Finally I disabled my graphic cards and flickering stopped but unfortunately i could not adjust brightness and duplicate my screen.

dxdiag output file is attached.

Please help me,

There may be a hardware problem. If there is a guarantee, send it to the guarantor. In my computer, the screen flicker was mostly playing http://agariowun.com/ agario games. I did not format the computer. The screen is flat,

Thanks for the reply.

It was OK with windows 8.1. Screen flickering has just started after upgrading to windows 10. And add to that when I disable Graphic Card everything is OK.

Hello agariowun:

Thank you very much to for the comments posted above.

To aboulfazl.hadi:

Thank you very much for providing that files.

Remember that when you use a graphics card the onboard graphics get disable, so in that scenario the graphics drivers needed are the ones that belong to the manufacturer of the video card. If the flickering problem stops when you disconnect the graphics card then normally that means the problem is related to the video card itself.

Do you have the option to use a different video card?

If you want to use the PC with the Intel® onboard graphics, then in order to try to fix the problem of not being able to adjust the brightness or to duplicate the screen, please try the following drivers:

Driver 4578:

https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/26544/Graphics-Intel-Graphics-Driver-for-Windows-7-8-1-15-36-?product=81497 https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/26544/Graphics-Intel-Graphics-Driver-for-Windows-7-8-1-15-36-?product=81497

Or driver 4501:

https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/26229/Intel-Graphics-Driver-for-Windows-10-15-40-4th-Gen-?product=81497 https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/26229/Intel-Graphics-Driver-for-Windows-10-15-40-4th-Gen-?product=81497

Please let me know the results of trying the drivers above.

Any further questions, please let me know.

Regards

Alberto

Hello Albert and thanks for your reply

I downloaded the links and tried both drivers, but unfortunately flickering is still on and off and the problem still exits.

I am a teacher and I need my laptop for presentation, without connecting to data show , I can say that the laptop is useless for me.

Thanks again.

Hello aboulfazl.hadi:

You are welcome.

Thank you very much for letting us know that information.

You mentioned that if video card gets disable the flickering problem stops. Most of the times that indicates that there might be a hardware problem with the laptop itself.

So, the next thing to do will be to get in contact with the manufacturer of the laptop, either to try the drivers that belong to them or to get further technical or warranty assistance.

Any questions, please let me know.

Regards

Alberto

This problem is common with Intel HD Graphics 4400.

I have been living with this same error since upgraded from Windows 8.1 to 10.

There are hundreds of complaints in the forums (Intel, Microsoft and Vendors). Google it!

After latest driver version it's less often but time-by-time still happen.

- Lenovo Yoga 2 Pro (20266 / 80AY), BIOS 76CN43WW, Intel i7 4500U, Intel HD Graphics 4400 (driver: 20.19.15.4642), Intel Dual Band Wireless AC 7260 (Network driver: 18.33.7.2) & (BT driver: 19.41.0.1), 8GB RAM, Samsung 850 EVO SSD 1TB, Windows 10 Professional - 64 bits (15063.483)

(*) Screen flickering always happen when running on Battery @ 60Hz. Then I ACTIVATED a Lenovo Energy Manager feature that improve reliability on this situations running on Battery @ 48Hz. The problem never happened again!

Hello Alberto.

I was running with driver 4624 that you mentioned before upgrade to latest 4642.

Same issue with both versions or to be clear flickering has been annoying users (Intel HD Graphics 4400) since Windows 10 was released two years ago.

Please push this feedback to software developer team to fix it in next driver version.

Birraque: Thank you very much for letting us know that information. Sure, I will transfer your feedback to the proper department so they can be aware of this scenario. Hopefully, the issue will get fixed on future driver releases. Additionally, remember that the Intel graphics drivers are generic, meaning they might or might not work with your laptop. That is why we always recommend to install the drivers provided by the manufacturer of it, since they were customized in this case by Lenovo to work with that specific system.

Look for "display and video graphics" and try version 4240:

Hello Alberto,

This BUG - SCREEN 60HZ FLICKERING WHEN ON BATTERY has annoyed users since 2014 (Windows 8.1) without a fix.

Hello Alberto,

This driver from Lenovo weren't customized (10.18.15.4240 - 2015/07/14) but isn't compatible with WiDi (Miracast) or latest Windows 10 versions like 'Anniversary' or 'Creators Update'.

Then Intel driver is my best option.

Please push for this 'flickering' issue fix.

Successful workaround to the flicker problem which made the machine unusable on battery.

Configuration: Lenovo Yoga 2 Pro with HD Graphics 4400, driver version 20.19.15.4642 running Windows 10 Pro.

Solution:

1) Load the Intel HD Graphics utility (GfxUIEx.exe) as an Administrator (otherwise it crashes)

2) Disable the "Panel Self-Refresh" option

I tried this "Panel Self-Refresh" setting and didn't fixed the flickering on my Y2P.

Only the Lenovo Energy Manager's trick that mentioned before (Screen @ 48Hz on Battery) could fix it.
