Why does my system (Dell E7470 - W10pro) report my AC-18260 triband wifi card as an AC-8260 dual band one ?

We have physically checked the card: the tag on the board reads AC-18260 but either system / enum... reports AC-8260.

Physically, the board has 3 plugs for 3 antennas, thus I really believe that the card is actually an AC-18260.

Further reading the forum, I have found an answer of an Intel person about the driver to use with a 7265 card, recommending use of the 17265 driver because a 17265 card is reported as a 7265 + a Gigabit Adapter.

Well not exactly (cited from memory). The exact answer by Carlos A. to Lan4444 was :

@If the PROSet is installing the driver version 19.20.0.6, then it's possible that you may have the http://www.intel.com/content/dam/www/public/us/en/documents/product-briefs/tri-band-wireless-ac17265-brief.pdf Intel® Tri-Band Wireless-AC 17265 instead of the Intel® Dual-Band Wireless-AC 7265. These adapters are commonly confused, as the wireless adapter will display as two separate products: a dual-band adapter (7265), and Gigabit Adapter (which can used for wireless docking).

(Sorry, could'nt find the quote style)

Do you think it's the same kind of problem ?

Hello PB_Tls,

You're correct.

The Intel® Tri-Band Wireless-AC 18265, 18260, and 17265 will all be detected as three separate devices: Wireless, Bluetooth*, and Gigabit module. Each of which will show under their respective Device Manager categories.

These are the three different modules included in your wireless adapter. Since they work separately, they're displayed as different devices under each appropriate category.

We hope this information helps. Please let us know if you have any further questions.
