Thanks for your interest in the Intel Galileo Platform.
Could you please post all the steps you have follow so far? Also, we would like to share this link that could be for your interest: https://communities.intel.com/thread/58940.
We’ll be waiting for your reply.
1. Copied the file rtl8723BU_WiFi_linux_v4.3.16_14189.20150519_BTCOEX20150119-5844.tar.gz on the SD card
2. Booted Galileo with SD card
3. Used command tar xvf to unzip the file.
Couldn't make anything work with the above steps.
1. cloned file rtl8723BU_WiFi_linux_v22.214.171.124_12942.20141204_BTCOEX20140507-4E40.tar.gz from github
2. unzipped it in folder /home/root/rtl8723bu
3. executed the 'make' command as mentioned before.
Thanks for the information provided. We have found that this particular error is related to the Kernel headers package necessary to compile an external module. Please take a look at this link: https://github.com/lwfinger/rtl8723bu/issues/30. We recommend you to post this question in the issues tab, since Lwfinger is the developer he could give you a more accurate answer.
I looked at the error message given above and the feedback from lwfinger and tried to tie them together. The makefile is looking for object modules in the path /lib/modules/3.8.7-yocto-standard/build. However there are none. The kernel source code is in the path /lib/modules/3.8.7-yocto-standard/kernel.
The makefile has the following:
KVER := $(shell uname -r)
KSRC := /lib/modules/$(KVER)/build
MODDESTDIR := /lib/modules/$(KVER)/kernel/drivers/net/wireless/
$(MAKE) ARCH=$(ARCH) CROSS_COMPILE=$(CROSS_COMPILE) -C $(KSRC) M=$(shell pwd) modules
How should I change the KSRC statement?
Kernel modifications are out of our support scope, however we would recommend you to check the Yocto Project Mega-Manual, in the chapter 4 you can find the “Modifying the Kernel” section that could help you in order to reach it. Also, please take a look at the Reconfiguring Linux kernel and adding drivers into Galileo’s Linux image, it could interest you too.
