Regarding your question, it seems that you need an SSD to put on your system Dell XPS15, we can let you know that any SATA SSD should be fine for your system.

In regard to your inquiry, first I need to let you know that the manufacturer has the option to enable or disable some features on the board, according to the information we found on the data sheet for Intel® 6 Series Chipset and Intel® C200 Series Chipset the SATA port supported are SATA II 3.0 Gb/s and SATA III 6.0 Gb/s, but the manufacturer can either just enable SATA II and in that case SATA III will not work, it is always recommended to check directly with the manufacturer of the board on that situation.
