Slow performance RAID0 with SSD Cache

    mbze430

I am running a Z97 board.  Latest Intel RST drivers downloaded from Intel's website.

      RAID0 is made of 3x 300GB 7200rpm mechanical drive

Cache is a 64GB Sandisk SSD

I am getting really bad performance with this setup.  looking at the Task Manager (Windows 10) the RAID0 volume is is getting 50% usage with Write about 30MB/sec.  About 30-45mins it will settle down, but the performance is still really bad.  read performance is never passes 80MB/sec and mostly around 45-60MB/sec.

      Please help

          Hello mbze430,

In regard to your concern, we do not support for performance and benchmarking when it comes to RAID volumes. This is due that the issue would be related to one or more hardware components of the RAID.

Although, as an additional step, you can confirm if you have the version 14.8 Intel® Rapid Storage Technology (Intel® RST) RAID Driver for your Z97 board.

Also, please run System Reports for Intel® Rapid Storage Technology in order to confirm any detail related to your issue.

Hope I can hear from you soon.

          Best regards,
          Angie

I did some diagnostics.  The drivers I am using is the latest 15.2.  I haven't got the chance to uninstall and install the 14.x iRST drivers.

However what I did was to removed the SanDisk SSD as the "SSD Cache"  the performance is a better.  But shouldn't the SSD Cache help performance?  it has a max read rate of 450MB/sec and write at 220MB/sec

I will try to have the System Reports for Intel® Rapid Storage Technology this weekend.

Ok I ran the system report.  This is WITHOUT the SSD as the Cache drive.  Since your forum doesn't support file attachment, I just pasted in plain text

There are a whole host of threads on here about slow ssd performance. Intel just ignore them.

Intel RST RAID1 performances various chipset, weird results, needs clarifications
