In regard to your question, yes, in some cases a bad video driver could cause stuttering audio playback and dropouts, but in this case the laptop should have an audio driver that we can install to try to fix this problem. Some products do not have an audio driver and in those cases the audio driver is included on the graphics driver and that is why a bad graphics driver could create those problems.
For the Intel® HD Graphics 520 controller, the driver 4539 should work, so you are using the correct driver, however the latest graphics driver is the following, beta 4552, you can try it as well:

I looked for the drivers directly on HP’s web site, and it says that the driver the laptop needs to use is 4454, on the link below you will find that driver and the audio driver as well, it is the first one:
Additionally, if you found a driver that fixes all the issues with the laptop, then we recommend to keep using that driver even though is not the newest, as long as the system works fine then you can keep it.
