    How to pick up the right SSD and RAM for NUC6I7KYK1?

      Ordered the NUC but want to make sure that I do not get a wrong SSD or RAM module. Are there any instructions on how to pick the proper SSD/RAM? Or a list of compatible devices? E.g. would this Transcend SSD (TS256GMTS800) work: https://www.amazon.com/Transcend-256GB-MTS800-Solid-TS256GMTS800/dp/B00KLTPUYG? Thank you.

          That's a M.2 SATA SSD. Will work fine, but you can get a M.2 NVMe SSD that will perform much, much faster. Here's a chart I made detailing them. I was looking for drives I could use with Windows 7 at the time. You can ignore these columns (and most comments) if you are going to use Windows 8.1 or Windows 10 (they don't need driver and are definitely compatible). As well, prices may have changed since I did this.

          I chose the Toshiba/OCZ RD400, BTW.

           

          For RAM, my input is to stick with 2133MHz DIMMs. Do not make the mistake of attempting to use 2400MHz (or higher) DIMMs; save yourself the headaches. My personal preference is Crucial. I have worked with every model of NUC and it is compatible with them all. Here's choices on Amazon:
