I currently have a Pentium P6000 and I want to upgrade to a i5-2430M that I have laying around, is it possible?
I've read that PGA988 and PPGA988 CPUs are pin compatible but depend a on the BIOS if it will work properly or not. The computer I have is an HP G62-A10EP and I know the board is referenced with this number 606576-001, can you help me figure out if it will work properly or no?

Thank you very much.

You MUST ask HP if their BIOS supports the i5-2430M. The processor must be socket, BIOS, and chipset compatible.
I doubt the HP BIOS will support this upgrade.
In my opinion, doing such an upgrade is not worth the effort, especially if you intend to go to Windows 10.

Hello DiogoMartinho,
This question will be answer by your computer manufacturer HP as they are more familiar with your system information and how all the components interact with each other.
You should be able to get support here:
