Hi,
Intel HD Graphics 5500 defaulting the display to 1024 X 768 in Windows 10 whenever the computer boots. I have to change the display settings to full screen every time I log in to the full screen resolution 1920 X 1080. Can this be set permanently? I am using Dell Inspiron 17 5000 series.
Appreciate any help.

Hello @Blue_View,
I would like you to install the latest drivers released by Intel.
Please download them here: http://intel.ly/2eP7whk http://intel.ly/2eP7whk
Then disconnect the system completely from the Internet connection (important step)
Finally, follow the steps here: http://intel.ly/1PdmvLd http://intel.ly/1PdmvLd
Please let me know how the computer behaves after doing this.

Dear Intel/Esteban,
Thanks a lot for your detailed response.
I have performed the steps. When I tried to update the driver from the downloaded file, the system raised the message "Windows has determined that the driver software for your device up to date".
Nevertheless, I restarted the computer, but the issue is not resolved and still persists. The Display again went back to 1027 X 768. Then I had to open the "Intel(R) HD Graphics Control Panel" shortcut from my desktop then click Display, change the setting.
Can you please let me know the next steps.
Appreciate your help.
Thanks.

Hello,
Once you restarted the computer, what was the driver reflected for you graphics adapter?
This can be checked by following the next steps:
1. Access the device manager.
2. Look for "display adapter"
3. Right click on "Intel HD Graphics 5500"
4. Hit properties and look for the driver tab
Please double check the driver installed is the same version as the one you tried to install (last 4 digits)

Thank you for the answer!
I recommend you to use the manual installation again, this time, please make sure you do not have internet connection while installing the drivers.
Manual installation steps: http://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/graphics-drivers/000005629.html http://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/graphics-drivers/000005629.html
Driver: https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/26347/Intel-Beta-Graphics-Driver-for-Windows-10-and-Windows-7-8-1-15-40-?product=86210 https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/26347/Intel-Beta-Graphics-Driver-for-Windows-10-and-Windows-7-8-1-15-40-?product=86210
If the problem persists (not able to install them) please contact the manufacturer of the device, some OEMs (manufacturers) limit the drivers that can be installed on their systems, for that reason you can pin them in order to get the latest drivers from their side and possibly a fix for the current issue related to resolution.

Thanks for the update!
Have you tried with a custom resolution? Set it to 1920x1080 apply and then restart.
If you are still having issues after doing so, I believe it would be good to reach your OEM in order to get further troubleshooting related to the resolution "reset."
We have tried to install the beta driver without success which indicates there may be a block from installing third party or generic drivers in your device.
Please let me know how it goes with them if required.

Hello,
Thanks for the answer! And more than welcome!
At this point, we have tested with our generic driver 4539, used manual installation and tested with a custom resolution.
Have you tested the behavior of your device with the default drivers from Windows10*?
You can get them after following these steps:
1. Access the device manager and look for display adapters
2. Right click on Intel HD Graphics 5500 and hit properties
3. Go to driver tab and uninstall the drivers (make sure you select "Delete the driver software for this device")
4. Restart the system and Windows 10* and run Windows updates
-Have you tested different cables?
-Is this happening with other monitors or TVs?
If the problem persists after this, we can say it is not a driver issue, from Intel and Windows 10* sides, so what would be left as the issue is the OS or drivers from the OEM.
For that reason, it would be good to check with your OEM (manufacturer of the device such as Dell*, Lenovo*, HP*, etc...) in order to get further troubleshooting and/or drivers to be used.
Please let me know how it goes.

Hi Intel/Esteban,
Sorry for my late reply.
The issue was not resolved by the mentioned steps. The only change happened is that, I could have a Intel HD Graphics icon at the desktop, which disappeared. Now I open the console by doing a right click on the screen then going to graphics.
Please let me know if you want me to do any other step.
Even if the issue is not resolved, I appreciate the helpfulness of you and the eagerness to resolve the problem. This is undoubtedly appreciable.
Thanks
