Processor Vcc and Memory Controller Hub Vcc fluctuate and machine reboots

    ptulkens

      Hi,

I got a series of shut down and reboots.  When checking the board/processor with the Intel Desktop Utilities, I noticed that

      - the Processor Vcc readings fluctuate between 0.89 and 1.2 volts.  Is this normal (it seems still in range [0.748-1.548] but I wonder whether is it is normal for the value to fluctuate)

      - likewise the Memory Hub Vcc readings fluctuate between 0.925 and 1.725 volts.  Same questions (normal values: 0.748-1.548.

Before posting, I changed my Power Supply to make sure this was not the cause, but to no avail.

Does this indicate a failing board or processor ?

          Hello,

Well these values fluctuate most of the time, the main thing to check is whether the frequency it operates outside the range.

Can you give me these information if possible?

          AA Number for the board:

          SL number for CPU:

          Memory Model:

          Bios Version:

          All the best,

          Kind Regards,

          Aryan.

            ---- CHANNEL A_DIMM0 ----
            Socket Designation CHANNEL A_DIMM0
            Current Memory Type DDR2
            Installed Size 2048 MB
            Memory Speed 800 MHz
            ---- CHANNEL B_DIMM0 ----
            Socket Designation CHANNEL B_DIMM0
            Current Memory Type DDR2
            Installed Size 2048 MB
            Memory Speed 800 MHz

I restarted my computer with all its peripherals tonight (I had removed them to help in diagnostic) and now there much less fluctuations and voltages remain in the middle of the range for the Processor (1.258) and close to the lower limit (1.135) for the Memory Controller Hub.

What is the EXACT make and model of your power supply? What is the EXACT make and model of your graphics card? Are you using a TAC (Thermally Advantaged Chassis)?

                Hi,
