Hello everyone.
I am new here and this is my first post/question.
I was trying to upgrade the CPU on my HP Pavilion dv6 notebook PC which has Intel Core 2 Duo T6600 (2-cores). According to cpu-world.com this processor is Socket P and the best performance CPU with Socket P is Intel Core 2 Extreme QX9300 (4-cores). Since I wanted to get the best out of this upgrade, I purchased a used Intel Core 2 Extreme QX9300 on eBay and installed it; however the PC refused to boot. I am not sure whether the QX9300 was not compatible or the CPU was bad!
Any help will be appreciated. Thanks.

Hello milhan,
In regard to your concern, in order to proceed with an upgrade of your system, you will need to take some facts in consideration, like:
The compatibility with the socket for your processor.
Chipset compatibility.
Due that some of these compatibility settings were defined by the manufacturer of your equipment (as per the information that you have provided, will be HP). At this moment at first, I would like to kindly recommend you to contact HP to confirm which are the proper compatibility settings for your equipment.
On the following link, you will be able to see the contacts for HP:
