IPDT Instant fail IMC Test

I upgraded from Win7 Pro to Win10 Pro yesterday. After finalizing the install I attempt to play a game and noticed an FPS drop (60+ to 1-5) and sound dropout (pop noise) on any command input. BIOS are up to date, C state and Step are disabled, no CPU throttling is enabled, all power management settings are set for max performance, and I am at a loss. I download and ran IPDT and everything passed except the IMC test which failed instantaneously, results below. Any ideas? I don't see an OS install causing a physical hardware issue.

I am not maxing my memory size, I am using DDR3 1066 (which is supported), 2 channel, and it's non-ECC.... what is the problem?

I'm sorry, I assumed that you were at least of average intelligence because you are working on the support forums.

The XFX MD-X581 is a motherboard and the OCZ DDR3 RAM is ram.

Apparently they don't hire people with OR teach people to use rationale and common sense.

Hello NobleKattalistt,

Thank you for the confirmation.

In regard to your latest reply, I forgot to emphasize on the model of your current processor. Which at this moment, it is required.

This is due that at the previous post that I have mentioned that the memory specifications, does not meet the processor requirement I was talking that the memory you are using it seems to be below the voltage required.

Although I need the model of the processor to specifically confirm this information, due to when I look for your Motherboard XFX MD-X581, it mentions that has 2 compatible processors, both i7.

This is the information related to your motherboard that I was able to find:

https://www.cnet.com/products/xfx-x58i/specs/ https://www.cnet.com/products/xfx-x58i/specs/

And on the performance test that you have mentioned, it comes only the specification as i7, it does not mention which i7 model you have.

So, in order for me to provide you the most accurate information, I will really appreciate the specific model of your processor among i7 processor we have.

I am looking forward to heard from you.

Hi ,

Please excuse Angie, maybe she is a bit tired and she missed the CPU in the report you posted i7-920.

First of all that is a very old CPU ( year 2008 )which is not produced, and also no supported anymore.

Remove the memory from the mainboard, and clean the pins carefully, with some cotton ear sticks and Isopropyl Alcohol, and then put them back.

Test again in windows 10, and if it still doesn't work, test with windows 7 and see if you have the same problem. If you have the same problem then the CPU memory controller or memory has problems.

If it works in windows 7 and not in 10 then it means that there is a compatibility problem with windows 10 and that mainboard. That can only be fixed with an updated bios that works with windows 10, and I don't think that you will find one because the mainboard is also out of production.

I hope that it is only a cleaning problem.

Waiting for the result.

Ronin, thank you very much for all your help.

To: NobleKattalistt,

Hello NobleKattalistt,

I do apologize for the misunderstanding at my end.

As Ronin mentioned, according to our Intel official website, your processor it is out of Interactive Support and you can confirm this matter at the following link:

https://downloadcenter.intel.com/product/37147/Intel-Core-i7-920-Processor-8M-Cache-2-66-GHz-4-80-GT-s-Intel-QPI- Downloads for Intel® Core™ i7-920 Processor (8M Cache, 2.66 GHz, 4.80 GT/s Intel® QPI)

At this moment the steps provided by Ronin, please ty to complete the test, and also if those steps do not solve your issue, I would like you to please try if you have the chance, to use another memory or change the memory to a different slot.

And if it is possible to test your processor in another motherboard. At the end that you complete any troubleshooting step, try to run the same test and please let me know if you keep facing the issue or if you were able to see any positive results.

Do not hesitate to reply as soon as you have any further detail.
