I'm particularly interested in finding out if there's any way to access the SMBus for my memory via the on-board memory controller (I want to read the SPD data as well as the thermal sensors). But none of the documents I've found reference the correct memory controller - my machine's MEI Controller # 1 has a Device ID of 0x8D3A.
Does anyone have a URL for the correct document?
Processor identifies itself as

Hello pgoyette:
In regard to your inquiry, there is no option to access the SMBus for the memory, via the on-board memory controller, the SMBUs work within the BIOS, but there is no option to access it on it.
Also, in regard to the SPD, in order to see it, that is also done on the BIOS, there should be an option in there so you can verify it, to get further details of the BIOS features, please get in contact with the manufacturer of the motherboard.
The links below are for the date sheet for the Intel® i7-6900K processor:

Any questions, please let me know.

Those document links are definitely not correct for my processor. The documents indicate that the CPU's PCI Device-ID is 190Fh or 191Fh yet my device has a Dev-ID of 6F00h. My processor is apparently not an S-platform...
If you're going to answer, you could at least provide correct information.

Hello pgoyette:
Let me apologize if I gave you the wrong links, those are related to the i7-6xxx series, since the processor you have is unlocked, here you have the links for the datasheet of the i7-6xxxK series:
http://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/processors/core/core-i7-6xxx-lga2011-v3-datasheet-vol-1.html http://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/processors/core/core-i7-6xxx-lga2011-v3-datasheet-vol-1.html
http://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/processors/core/core-i7-6xxx-lga2011-v3-datasheet-vol-2.html http://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/processors/core/core-i7-6xxx-lga2011-v3-datasheet-vol-2.html
Not sure if those were the links you already checked.
I hope you are able to find the information you are looking for, otherwise the best thing to do will be to get in contact directly with the manufacturer of the motherboard for further assistance.
Any questions, please let me know.
