The audio driver is actually a part of the Intel HD Graphics package; upgrading/reinstalling this package - and ensuring that Intel SST Audio Device (Or Intel Display Audio, depending upon which ICS) is set as the default output in Playback Devices - should restore the sound output. As for cause, I have no idea what Office 365's installer is doing.
Hope this helps,
hmm, it didnt work, installed the driver, rebooted, no playback device visible, nothing like sound in the devicelist.
I'll try deinstalling Office 365 first and runningg the installer again. Since the second time I lost the driver during the instaalation of Office 365, I was playing music and even got a popup stating that there was no sounddevice... still listening.
Only after rebooting later on, the sound and device disappeared.
Let's see what this brings. Wish me luck.
I would not like having to install all my software a third time after reinstalling windows from scratch again.
OK, that didn't work either. De-installed 365, rebooted, installed the Intel HD Graphics package again.
Still no playback device visble and nothing in the device list.
Left with the last option of reinstalling windows totally again, but that didnt work the second time I did that.
The sound device didn't come to life that time.
I fear the device is dead forever and I am stuck with an useless compustick device that can't play movies, music or presentations with sound.
Thank you for the information.
Let's try by updating the following driver;
- System-on-a-Chip (SOC) Download System-on-a-Chip (SOC) Driver Package for Intel® Compute Stick STK1AW32SC
- Intel® HD Graphics Driver Download Intel® HD Graphics Driver for Intel® Compute Stick STK1AW32SC for this one use this method for the installation How to Manually Install an Intel® Graphics Driver in Windows® 10 &...
Let me know how that goes.
Followed yr suggestions and installed the driνers in yr links.
In both cases I got messages that I had already the latest/best driνers installed (and no update took place?)
Checking the driνer number according to the manual procedure confirmed this (I haνe a later νersion)
Αnyway, at some moment during all this I noticed the icοn speaker actiνe again, and when I checked sound indeed had returned, eνen without rebooting.
I do not know when exactly in the procedure it happend but it did.
(Now I wil try to reinstall office 365 and if neccessary repeat yr driνers installation again)
There is a difference between the driver number reported by Windows and the package number used by Intel (they are different because the package contains both a graphics driver and an audio driver). In this case, the package downloaded may actually have a newer graphics driver. I suggest that you allow this package to overinstall the one installed and see if it makes a difference...
Hope this helps,
Αλεξανδρος thank you for following the suggestion. The reason why I suggested it is because we have some reports of missing audio on this Intel® Compute Stick mode, but once these two drivers are updated the issue disappears. So, if you encounter the issue again, follow the same procedure and this should fix the issue.
