Why Intel(R) HD Graphics 4460 isn't supporting higher resolutions

I've been using a Dell U2711 monitor with this motherboard for almost a year, no issues displaying 2560x1440. I unplugged from this monitor for several months, come back to see it now I'm limited to 1600x1200 in display settings. I've checked to be sure the drivers are up to date for both the 4460 and 980Ti, have switched out cables and tested the monitor on another computer, seem to have isolated the issue to the 4460. I'm attaching the Intel Graphics Report. Many thanks for your help.

Hello Benjy_vC:

Thank you very much for posting the graphics report.

Based on it, it seems that the PC does support resolution 2560x1440.

So, if you get in into Intel® graphics panel, do you see the option to use that resolution or it is not showing?

Please try the following driver, it is version 4501, that latest:

What is the model of the board?

As an option you can also try a BIOS update to the latest version on the board.

Any questions, please let me know.

Hello Alberto,

The option to use 2560x1440 in the Intel Graphics Panel isn't showing. My 4460 graphics driver is up to date with 4501. The motherboard is Gigabyte GA-H97N-Wifi Mini-ITX. BIOS in dxdiag says it's F9B. That's a Microsoft call. In the meanwhile, a previous telephone support suggested I download and run Intel Processor Diagnostic Tool and Intel XTU. The diagnostic tool returned a FAIL for the PCH section. I'm unsure what to learn from XTU, but I ran the stress test and it looked fine. Of course, there's a second graphics card on this PC, GTX 980Ti, and it's not clear which graphics card is being tested. Thanks for more ideas.

Hello Benjy_vC:

In this case we can try the graphics driver that belong to the board, look for vga driver:

http://www.gigabyte.com/products/product-page.aspx?pid=4992# dl http://www.gigabyte.com/products/product-page.aspx?pid=4992# dl

Also, since a video card is in there, in that case to get the proper graphics driver, you will need to get it from Nvidia's web site, just enter the model of the video card to get the driver:

http://www.nvidia.com/download/index.aspx http://www.nvidia.com/download/index.aspx

Just in case, here is the link, to install the latest version of IPDT, second option to the left to install it:

https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/19792/Intel-Processor-Diagnostic-Tool https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/19792/Intel-Processor-Diagnostic-Tool

The PCH problem it shows as failed on Windows® 10, so please disable that before running the tool.

If the problem persists after trying the steps above, then the best thing to do will be to get in contact with Dell directly for technical or warranty assistance:

Dell's support site: http://www.dell.com/support/home/us/en/04 http://www.dell.com/support/home/us/en/04

Dell's phone number: 1 800-624-9897

Any questions, please let me know.

Alberto
