Problems with Intel Graphics Driver 20.19.15.4463

Description: After exiting from Sleep Mode, one of my monitors always remains in Standby mode. Both monitors are connected to different ports on the motherboard. One is VGA connected, the other is HDMI connected. If I use any of the Graphics administration utilities, only one monitor is shown at this point. If I start up with only the VGA monitor connected, then enter Sleep mode, and activate, the VGA monitor remains in standby. Connecting the HDMI monitor allows me to shut down cleanly after this. When I revert to version 4300 of the driver, these problems go away, though I do get the occasional hiccough that the update resolves.

The Hardware is a Lenovo Ideacentre 300, 2015H using 64 bit Windows 10 Home. The displays are Ilyama PL2280H.and PL2202W. Microsoft's automatic update has twice installed the 4463 driver without asking me if I wanted this update

Hello, Wrake:

Try disabling the automatic Windows Updates, see here for instructions on how to to this; A workaround to Turn Off Windows Update in Windows 10 http://www.thewindowsclub.com/turn-off-windows-update-in-windows-10 http://www.thewindowsclub.com/turn-off-windows-update-in-windows-10. This should stop your system from updating itself.

Now, I would like to know if version .4300 is the only one that fixes the issue; have you tried installing a different version? Please provide me with your graphics report in order to gather more information, see here on how to get it http://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/graphics-drivers/000005848.html Report for Intel® Graphics Drivers.

Amy.

Wrake,

I wanted to check on your thread; were you able to follow my suggestion? Does the issue persist?

A different Intel® HD Graphics driver version might fix the issue, just attach the report for the Intel® HD Graphics in order to get the right driver for your system.

Amy.

I did try a version referenced in another thread, but this was for another PC. While updating, it suggested that it might not be compatible, so I cancelled the update. I resolved the hiccup that happens with 4300 by increasing the timeout. I will try another version if you suggest one.

Sure I can suggest one.

You can try this one https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/26228/Intel-Graphics-Driver-for-Windows-10-and-Windows-7-8-1-15-40-?product=88345 Download Intel® Graphics Driver for Windows® 10 and Windows 7*/8.1* [15.40] which is the latest and https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/26099/Intel-Beta-Graphics-Driver-for-Windows-10-and-Windows-7-8-1-15-40-?product=88345 Download Intel® Beta Graphics Driver for Windows® 10 and Windows 7*/8.1* [15.40] which is the previous Beta driver. If the compatible message comes back, use this method in order to ensure the installation of the driver; http://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/graphics-drivers/000005629.html How to Manually Install an Intel® Graphics Driver in Windows® 10 &... .

I think I have now tried all available drivers: Versions 4474 and 4501 have the same problems as reported for 4463. Version 4424 claims it is not compatible with my PC and won't load. Version 4300 from the link you gave (which was the working version) also claims not to be compatible, so I cannot roll back to a working version. Version 4380 shows that it is no longer available when attempting to load from this link. I did use Device Manager to uninstall the 4501 Graphics driver. The system briefly reverted to 10.0.14393.0, which had the same sleep problems. It then upgraded and I did not get the opportunity to revert to 4300. The roll back option in Device Manager is greyed out. I may look through backups to see if I can find the original 4300, unless you have another suggestion.

I eventually succeeded in reinstalling a working driver. I thought it was 4300, but it was actually 4331. At the first attempt. installation failed as incompatible with my PC, so I.uninstalled the existing driver from Device Manager and rebooted. The PC was then using an old generic driver. Installing 4331 from this state succeeded and the sleep problem was resolved. I then tried updating to 4424 and this also worked. I have not tried 4474 again, but the sleep failure definitely occurred with both 4400 and 4501.

If encounter the incompatible error again , use this method for the installation http://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/graphics-drivers/000005629.html How to Manually Install an Intel® Graphics Driver in Windows® 10 &... .

You can always try our latest Beta Intel® HD Graphics, see here for the download https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/26305/Intel-Beta-Graphics-Driver-for-Windows-10-and-Windows-7-8-1-15-40-?product=88345 Download Intel® Beta Graphics Driver for Windows® 10 and Windows 7*/8.1* [15.40]

I ave just tried with 4530. This has the same problems as originally reported with 4463. I also tried the recommended method with device manager to revert to 4424. This failed. It may have been because I have always downloaded the exe version rather than the zip version. I directed the driver to update to use the directory where the exe was stored. Initially, it just reinstalled 4530. When I deleted that exe, it claimed there were no compatible drivers. The technique I used previously to reinstall 4424 worked. Ie. Use device driver to uninstall the existing driver, then execute the exe.

I am sorry to the hear. At this stage, my recommendation is to stay with version .4300, if this version is working I recommend installing it https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/25484/Intel-Graphics-Driver-for-Windows-10-and-Windows-7-8-1-15-40-?product=88345 Download Intel® Graphics Driver for Windows® 10 and Windows 7*/8.1* [15.40].

Please try to install it, and let me know how it goes. Remember to disable Windows Updates in case Windows tries to change the version installed.

Amy.

I think I will stick with the working version that I am using (4424). I will try to remember to check occasionally to see if future versions work. I will leave Windows updating. The last update, yesterday, did not change the graphics driver and I now know how to reinstate a working driver if future automatic updates cause similar problems. I prefer to keep my system up to date with security updates.

Hi,

We encounter the same problems with Surface Pro 4 tablets and external displays.

External displays suddenly turn black when they are connected to the Surface dock and we see many crashes in the dwm.exe process.

We have 50 devices in the last 7 days who encountered this issue.

It seems to be a known issue since a few months now.

Do you know how to fix this issue ?

Hello RenaudS,

Thank you for joining the thread.

I noticed that you are reporting an issue with the same driver; however, your platform it completely different including brand, model and other components. So, for us to further assist you and to help you with the specific problem, please create a new thread, make sure to add all the details in regard to your system. This way the next agent will have a better look at your specific scenario, you can add this thread as a reference but I recommend creating a new thread in order to isolate your case.

Regards,

Amy.

I decided to check whether a new version of the driver was now available that resolved the problem. The latest version still had the problem. I then decided to try the Lenovo Support Community to see if they had suggestions. It was suggested that I upgrade the BIOS to the latest version, which I did. The latest Intel Drivers now work!
