How can you tell the revision of 7260.HMW

    GuntherH

As I understand it, the 7260.HMW Wireless AC card has a revision out that increases the compatibility of the card.  I have a card that is having some issue with Blue Tooth operation on my laptop.  Blue Tooth works fine with my original card installed but that card has other issues.  My question then is how do I tell if the 7260.HMW card that I have in hand is a revised card?

          Hello GuntherH,

As you mentioned, there are different versions of the Intel® Dual Band Wireless-AC 7260. We would like to inform that Intel® Wireless Adapters are meant to be installed from factory by the computer manufacturer. The end user is not authorized to install these wireless adapters. They can only be installed by the manufacturer or its authorized representative. Custom integrations are not supported/recommended by Intel.

The system manufacturer would choose the version of the adapter according to the features and capabilities of the computer, therefore, you should contact the Computer Manufacturer Support if want to upgrade your wireless adapter.

In the following website you can find some of the Ordering Codes for the Intel® Dual Band Wireless-AC 7260 along with their features (there may be other versions OEM specific):

That response helps but is incomplete.  I would like to think that, contrary to your statement, Intel does support end users.  As an IT professional for over 20 years, in addition to managing multiple LANs and hundreds of users, I am responsible for managing the repair of servers, desktops and laptops.  Although the information you provided does help with ensuring part compatibility, it does not confirm for me how the actual part is marked.  I would assume that the part number you have listed in the chart that you linked above would be printed verbatim on the part.  If this is so, then the part I received is not the part I ordered and thus the reason it does not work the way I expect it to.  So the simple question would be:  if I ordered a 7260.HMWG.R, would I see the ".R" on the part number physically printed on the card?

Thanks for the additional details, here is some information that we think will help resolve your inquiry.

The numbers you provided are different product codes for the same Adapter model, 7260.HMWG was discontinued and replaced with the 7260.HMWG.R. As you suggested, the label is the best place to look if you want to determine the product code of a given adapter.
In this case, both of this adapters have the following information in the label:

              Intel® Dual Band Wireless-AC 7260
              Model: 7260HMW

The label of the adapters has other numbers, some are unique between product codes. Please review the following document as it has pictures of the labels from these and some other versions of the ac 7260:

Please keep in mind that the label design may vary between adapters of the same model, however, major changes are included in the Product Change Notification documents for the 7260.HMWG and 7260.HMWG.R.
