The chipset DP965 is old now, the last chipset version was 9.1.2.1008 released on 9/29/2010.

I suggest you to visit your motherboard manufacturer website and download the latest tested chipset driver.

                      Hi

The latest chipset still supports the 900 serie see the release notes.

For this board i always installed the latest chipset drivers i always install chipset 10.1.1.14 or older for my board with windows 10 1511.

Now with the new windows version 1607 its not working anymore.

Older chipset versions dont support windows 10.

                        Anou

I have the very same problem with a different notebook: Acer Aspire 4820TG. I'm sorry, I don't know where to see what my chipset is, but I searched online and it is said to be the "Mobile Intel® HM55 Express Chipset". In the Device Manager the chipset is called "legacy device" -- meaning, as I understand it, that there is no functioning driver at all. The Intel Driver Update Utility wants me to update from 10.0.14393 to 10.1.1.14. When I try this it fails just like the above. Please help!

                          Hi Anou,

You are right the chipset model of your laptop is Mobile Intel® HM55 Express Chipset. It is considered a Legacy product; there are no more driver updates.

Windows 10 requires chipset models equal to 8 Series or newer, older versions do not support it or they will have limitations. It is necessary to use generic drivers from Windows 10 update.

In regards to our tool, it is not recognizing properly your chipset and it is providing the latest driver for Windows 10.
Intel Driver Update Utility (IDUU) is intended for Intel desktop boards and NUCs. Intel statement is the following:

“Intel provides generic versions of drivers for general purposes. Your computer manufacturer may have altered the features, incorporated customizations, or made other changes to your driver. Intel recommends you contact your computer manufacturer for the latest system specific updates and technical support information.”

I am sending you the drivers available at Acer website, only Windows 7 is supported. It is necessary to use generic drivers from Win10.

                            Hi Mike C,

I am having a compatibility issue with the Home Designer 2017 software I have recently downloaded (3D Camera does not work). Intel (R) HD Graphics is the problem (I think) Can you please help me with the correct Driver to Download to rectify compatibility with Windows 10 and the Home Designer Software? If there isn't one a) Do I need to buy a new laptop b) Can I have my laptop Video Card physically updated by an IT person

                              Hi mwestphal79,

Your computer is a little bit older, it has a 1st generation processor (2010); the graphics drivers are not prepared for Windows 10; however, your system can work with limitations using generic Windows drivers. I suggest you to visit Hewlett Packard support website and search for newer drivers and BIOS. They could improve your system performance.

HD graphics are inside the processor and there isn’t space in the laptop to add an external graphics card.

Newer Video and Design software require recent hardware. I suggest you a PPCwith 6th generation processor, SSD, 8GB of RAM at least.

                                Dear Mike,

                                thanks for this information.

I don't get why Microsoft kinda forced everyone to upgrade to 10 when there's only few hardware support. It's a five year old notebook with still decent specs good to go another three years. You wouldn't expect it growing "old" this soon but probably that's intended. At least I didn't expect it. Oh well.
