I believe that this is the logic behind the statement: If you are going to set up an IoT gateway, you want a solution that has the compute power to support it. Using anything more powerful is a waste of capability and likely a waste of money. This is why low-end systems like these make good IoT gateways; just enough compute power to do the job. Think about it: What if you were going to install 100 - or even 1000 - of these units. Would you want to spend more money on each unit than you need to? I think not...
