    intel NUC graphics driver does not work with my monitor on hdmi.

      I uninstalled graphics driver and went to generic windows driver and it worked but that removed the extended desktop option to run dual monitors.  any suggestions?  spent a lot of time with nuc support and this was the outcome.  they wanted me to come here and post the problem on the boards to see if anybody had a solution.

              I noted you already installed the latest BIOS and graphics driver on your NUC 5i7RYH. According to your first post you are getting issues while using Dual monitor.
               
              Please tell me more about the issue. Tell me if you are using both video ports of the NUC, video adapters to connect your monitors and resolutions on both monitors (plus refresh rates) that you are trying to get with both monitors.
               
              Additionally, let me know if you have already the latest Chipset and Management Engine drivers.

                I am running 2 samsung s24d300 monitors.  The one that works is plugged in via VGA to mini dp.  The other one that does not work is plugged in via hdmi to mini hdmi.    There are only 2 video ports on the NUC (mini hdmi and mini dp).  I am current on the chipset and intel management engine.  My business partner has been running similar set up (if not the exact same setup) without this problem.  We sent the first NUC back and this is the second one.  It was running fine.  Then one day last week, i left the room to get a cup of coffee and when I came back, the monitor with the hdmi plug in was dead.  No picture.  I always get the intro "intel NUC" display when first booting up the machine but it then goes to no display when windows kicks in.  The monitor hooked into the dp has always worked on both the first and second NUC's.  The problem has always been with the hdmi to mini hdmi.  When I first got the second nuc, I immediately ran all the updates.  after i did that, the other monitor connected through the mini hdmi port began working.  It worked for a couple of months until last week.  Like i said, i just left the room, came back, and the display on that monitor was gone. 

                 

                I got on the chat with NUC support for a few hours.  ran through the standards (checking updates and all).  Ended up pulling out the yellow jumper next to the ram.  got video on both while looking at the bios screen. then started windows and it was gone again.  then I pulled one of the ram cards.  no success there.  then we uninstalled the graphics driver and replaced it with the standard windows graphic driver.  both monitors worked but as you know, you cant get extended desktop with the standard windows graphics driver.  so having dual monitors is useless with this standard window graphics driver.  so now I am back to square 1.  I have one monitor working fine with the dp port and the other one (mini hdmi) is dead.  for some reason, i don't think windows 10 (its win pro 10 64 bit by the way) works with the graphics driver for the nuc to allow me to use the mini hdmi port.

                  I understood, the NUC has a video on both monitors while POST process then, only 1 monitor works with Windows 10.

                  The graphics driver is working properly with Windows 10; I have tested it in our lab. 

                  Please tell me if you go to Intel graphics control panel, let me know if you can see both monitors or just one.

                  Have you tested with any other video cable? 

                  Also, try with this workaround. Unplug the miniHDMI adapter, restart the NUC, as soon as you are in Windows, plug the cable. Make sure the video input of the TV is set to HDMI.

                    I think it does detect another display.  I just don't get a picture.  It started working for a while now it is not again.  I have tested with other cables.  like i said before, i get a picture when i uninstall the iris 6100 graphics driver and go to basic windows driver.  however the basic windows graphic driver does not allow for an extended desktop.  it just shows 2 of the same desktops.  i have tried the work around many times.  no worky.  i have been trying installing old graphics drivers to see if one of them would work but haven't found one yet.

                        well i might have found something.  after all this, i was messing around and unplugged the monitor.  this means i unplugged the power cord from the monitor.  plugged it back in and there was the picture.  it went out again today after the computer went to sleep.  i unplugged the cord again and plugged back in and got a picture again.  so just turning it off and on didn't work.  you have to unplug the actual cord from the monitor.  not the cord from the wall, don't turn it off then back on with the power button, unplug the cord from the monitor.  oh well, at least i have a picture now.
