I am shaking down a new installation of an ss4200-e running the EMC 18.104.22.168736
The Date/Time settings revert to a date in July 2009 when I select the ntp server setting.
The time seems to hold when I force an explicit time instead of pointing to an ntp reference.
I have not yet ruled out a hardware or battery failure. (I have not yet gone looking for that battery.)
The system is sitting behind a netgear router and another server successfully finds an ntp reference.
The system is running stock, that is, all of the configuration has been done through the preference settings.
Outside of sticking a sniffer next to the SS4200-e, no idea. Dumb question, do you need to specify port forwarding from your NTP server to the SS4200 through the Netgear?
1. Go to Settings => Event Log. Do you see any errors about time synchronize?
2. Check if your DNS settings in Settings => Network Services => Network Settings
3. Try a different time server like time-a.nist.gov
