Hi,

I am buying a laptop dell studio 15. Intel i5 540M processor but dell/many other vendors provide it with 1333Mhz SDRAM.

As per spec, i5 540M supports 800/1066Mhz SDRAM. Does 1333Mhz SDRAM help me improve performance? or any other problem i could face if i buy one?

Thank you,

Raghu

the 1333MHz RAM is simply a higher bandwidth memory. It will increase the responsiveness of the system overall. but the amount would be reasonably negligable. only if you're going to be gaming, video encoding, or something else intensive, will you likely see a realworld change in performance. also keep in mind it usually requires more power to sustain that frequency, so it will kill your system battery a little faster as well.
