I read the link you posted (https://github.com/alext-mkrs/meta-alext-edison/issues/2) and it looks like the package you were trying to install in your Edison has been removed from the repo. AlexT mentioned in the link you posted that he will work to get it up again in the latest repo (http://iotdk.intel.com/repos/3.5/). You can either wait for him to upload it to the repo or you can build the package from source by following the instructions in https://sourceforge.net/p/ddclient/wiki/Home/ (not the apt-get method, the manual method).
Exactly right (with the note that iotdk.intel.com is not my repo, but the official one ). I'm currently rebasing the repo to Release 3.5 and I'll make sure to include ddclient back, looks like I simply haven't recorded this request, as I usually do, and when rebasing from 2.1 to 3.0 ddclient went missing.
