Unable to connect I128-V to TP-Link Powerline adapter

    reeceh

      Hi,

Having issues getting my desktop PC that has an Intel i128-v NIC to connect to my network over TP-Link powerline adaper (TL-PA8010P)

I can confirm that the Powerline adapters are working as my Laptop and HTPC both connect to the network without fault.

      On my desktop i have:

Updated the Motherboard BIOS - no change

Installed latest LAN drivers from Intel website - no change

Installed latest LAN drivers from motherboard manufacturer - no change

Tried using a Static IP address - no change

Running out of ideas, hope someone can help?

          Hi reeceh,

          Thank you for contacting Intel.

I see that you have tried different BIOS and driver versions.  Please check the following:

          1. if the port is in good condition, no bent or missing pins.
          2. The network cable is known good unit.
          3. Try connecting to another switch, router or another computer.

We look forward to your test results.

          Best Regards,

            Hi Sandra,

After some more troubleshooting, I noticed that if I disabled and re-enabled the NIC in Device Manager, it would be assigned an IP, but unable to communicate with the router.

I have resolved the problem by doing a CMOS reset - which seems a strange fix.

The only thing I can think of, is that because I hadn't used the NIC for about a month, that perhaps it went into some sort of power saving mode or something? Is this something that could of happened?

            Regards,

              Hi Reece,

              Thank you for your reply.

There are times that strange things like this happens to the motherboard's components.  Especially when they were unused or stored for some time.  Anyway, glad to know that the network card is fixed now.

Again, thank you for contacting Intel and have a great day!

              Sincerely,
              Sandy
