[Intel SSD 750 PCIe] Switch PCIe slots?

LKreu

Hello everyone,

The Intel SSD 750 PCIe 3.0 x4 installed on my Asus z170-a on PCIE x16_2 as primary drive with Windows 10 installed.http://ark.intel.com/compare/86739,88744,86740 http://ark.intel.com/compare/86739,88744,86740

Everything is working as it should. I need some space in my case and it would be the best solution to switch the port, but I'm scared that it wont work anymore, so my question:

Can I switch the SSD from PCIE x16_2 to the PCIE x16_1 Slot ?

I would like to not install Windows 10 and programms again.

Thanks in advance for any help

ipub,

Thanks for posting in our forum.Regarding your question, you can go ahead and try the other PCIe slot, it should works as we verified in the motherboard's manual, worse case scenario, it won't boot. As for the manual, here is the http://dlcdnet.asus.com/pub/ASUS/mb/LGA1151/Z170-A/E10611_Z170-A_UM_V2_WEB.pdf?_ga=1.51470112.883075... link for the manual and on page 29 it shows you the setup for the expansion slot configuration. Please let us know if you need any further assistance.NC
