I keep getting failed install for Intel Chipset device Inf update

    darrell2282

After I run an Intel scan, and the download shows up (chipset device software Inf Update) I then try to install, click thru prompts and install, I get a failed notice.

In this case, the driver is failing to install because the registry has been modified. Windows® 10 includes the latest chipset driver for your chipset model, so you would not need to install it. However, if you want to install it you could try with a manual installation, see here for the instructions How to Manually Update Drivers in Windows 10 - Driver Easy**

                  Hello Amy,

Thank you kindly for your help, I guess the two drivers were fighting each other, so to speak.  Is it kind of like having two anti-virus programs?  In any event I greatly appreciate it.

                    Hello Amy,

I tried it, and it says I have the most up to date chipset, but my computer is still randomly restarting.  So frustrated.  In fact, it did again just 10 minutes ago.

I don't think the random restarts would get fixed by installing this anyway as it only affects the names that appear in device manager, it doesn't include any driver files at all.

go to "computer management" in the win+x menu (or right click the start button).

                        double click on "event viewer"

                        double click "windows logs"

                        click "system"

                        right click "system"

                        click "filter current log"

                        tick "critical" and "error"

                        click "ok"

That should give you more idea about why the computer is randomly restarting.

It might be a "bugcheck", or it might just be windows restarting to install an update.

I see, try disabling the Windows Updates in order to check if the issue persists and just want to know; have you contacted your computer manufacturer in regard to the restarting issue?
