Does chipset such as Z170 provides more PCIe lanes to computer?
Even many hardware review bloggers are giving different answers to this question.
Can someone from Intel answer this question and settle it once for all?
If I put together a i7-6700k (16 PCIe lanes) and Z170 (20 PCIe lanes).
Do I get....
a) 36 PCIe lanes
b) 20 PCIe lanes
The max # of PCI Express lanes will be provided by the processor, and in this case the maximum provided by the processor is 16, see the picture below:
