I keep hoping that Intel will bring out a version of this tool that actually works for Intel's own (Desktop Board, NUC and ICS) products. I have an expectation that, if it is an Intel product, *all* of the drivers for the silicon included in the product, even that from third-party suppliers, will be supported, not just the drivers for Intel's own silicon. Sadly, this has never happened. I gave up waiting and even stopped trying out new versions of the tool some time ago. Your complaints tell be that this has still never appeared...
Your best bet is to manually download and install all of the latest drivers (and BIOS releases) for your board and to then check back once a month (or so; more often if you have a problem with any drivers/silicon) to see if new versions have appeared...
Sorry I didn't have a better answer...
The issue you pointed out with the Intel® Driver Update Utility is under investigation, an upcoming version will show some improvement. We are working on additional fixes, which we hope to have ready soon.
What are drivers that you want to install?
No problem to install all drivers manually.
