I'm in possession of an Intel Edison and the full sized development board (the one that allows Arduino shields to be placed on).
I also have an Arduino Uno R3 Ethernet Shield that works just fine with an actual Arduino R3. The problem I'm running into is trying to make that Ethernet shield run on my Edison.
When I run the Ethernet(Edison) > DhcpAddressPrinter example sketch from the latest version of the Arduino IDE, I get this printed back at me:
"My IP address: 255.255.255.255."
This isn't right of course.
Is this shield not compatible with the Edison?
There's a major lack of documentation on the Edison and this dev board, so any help would be appreciated.
The Ethernet shield is not included in the Shield Testing Report for Intel® Galileo and Edison Boards (http://www.intel.com/content/dam/support/us/en/documents/Galileo-Edison_ShieldTestReport_330937-002.pdf). So, it is not validated to work with Edison.
However, there's a guide about how to connect Edison using Ethernet over USB (https://software.intel.com/en-us/connecting-to-intel-edison-board-using-ethernet-over-usb). Maybe it'll be of help for you.
