My SY starts loading Windows ~3 seconds after the splash screen first appears. From the powered off state, I see Windows start loading ~7 seconds after I press the power button.

So, what could be causing this delay? Here's the short list of possible causes and what to do to look into them:
- A connected USB device is creating the delay. Try, (a) with all USB devices disconnected, (b) with only keyboard and mouse connected, and (c) any other devices connected. Timing should be same for (a) and (b). I would not expect a hit for (c) - unless an external USB hub is in use (which will definitely cost you some additional time).
- Memory initialization problems us creating the delay. This is unlikely - unless you have a bad DIMM. Try testing with only one DIMM installed. Try it in ChannelA and then in ChannelB. Now switch to the other DIMM. Try it in ChannelA and then in ChannelB. Finally, test with both. Compare times for each.
- BIOS Configuration issue is causing the delay. Try resetting the BIOS configuration to defaults and then change ONLY the boot order (to match hardware configuration). See if this changes time.
That's a good start. Let me know how it goes...
Hello Scott Pearson,
Why UEFI disabled ? UEFI boot faster than Legacy Bios boot ?
I also have the same slow Legacy boot problem. I installed Windows 10 on NUCi7KYK with a Samsungsung 950 Pro in traditional legacy boot mode.
The bios screen take 20 seconds and Windows 10 take another 20 seconds.
So I want to re-install Windows 10 in UEFI mode.
I'm having the same problem. Takes >45 seconds to boot Win7. It does seem like once Windows starts loading, everything is pretty snappy.
I did disable Legacy boot & network boot. Didn't see a change.
Only USB device hooked up is keyboard/mouse.
