What are the benefits of having a cpu with muliple cores given the general processing speed is the same?

What are the benefits of having a dual or quad core over a single core processor?

          Hello Ch1415 ,

Thank you for joining the Intel communities.

The benefit of a multicore processor over a single core processor depends on what you need the system for.

Having a multicore processor means that you can run more applications at the same time or work in big applications with more efficiency than with a single core processor. It is a big difference in performance when you have a multicore processor.

Quad-core processor, by contrast, has four CPUs on a single chip and executes four separate operations at the same time, drastically reducing waiting times and enhancing the computer's productivity.

I hope this can help you.

          Best wishes,

          Ivan
