I have a D975XBX2 with 4 drives in RAID 10 on the Intel Matrix connectors. I want to add a single SATA drive to my system for storage under an additional drive letter. I have the drive connected to a blue Marvell connector. Secondary controller is switched on in BIOS. So far, I am unable to find the drive in XP's Disk Management. Marvell RAID comes up during startup now and shows no drives configured for RAID. BIOS is using RAID setting. Device Manager shows an unknown PCI device and is unable to install software/driver.
What am I missing, or is this not possible? Thank you.
I updated the BIOS and installed the "Marvell* Raid Utility" from the "Intel Express Installer Driver CD" disk. The actual fix came when I did a driver update on the errant PCI item in "Device Manager" using the "Intel Express Installer Driver CD" as a driver source. Now the drive shows up. Apparently you can mix a RAID 10 on the Intel Matrix controller with a single drive on the Marvell.
