HP x2 1012 custom resolution (3440*1440) Core M5 6Y54 intel graphics HD 515

Hi there,

I'm somewhat frustrated with my new HP x2 1012 g1 tablet/laptop. It runs fine, however when I added in my 4K 34" monitor (HP z34c) to the PC (via Thunderbolt dock) it would not output the correct resolution, apparently the max resolution for this machine is 2560*1600.

However this seems to be a limitation that HP has introduced. As per intels spec sheet for this chipset/CPU the graphics capabilties show 3840*2160.

So obviously I wonder: 1) Why would HP introduce such a limitation 2) is there any way to force through a higher resolution?

any help appreciated

thanks!

Hi,

Your Intel® graphics support 4k resolution as you can see at the following link:

http://ark.intel.com/products/88202/Intel-Core-m5-6Y54-Processor-4M-Cache-up-to-2_70-GHz?q=M5%206Y54 http://ark.intel.com/products/88202/Intel-Core-m5-6Y54-Processor-4M-Cache-up-to-2_70-GHz?q=M5%206Y54

At this point the only thing I can recommend is the following

Uninstall the Intel® Graphics driver; please see http://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/graphics-drivers/000005598.html Uninstalling the Intel® Graphics Driver and Intel® Display HDMI/Audio Driver

Once you uninstall the Intel® driver download the Beta driver and reinstall it, you can download it here:

https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/25957/Intel-Beta-Graphics-Driver-for-Windows-10-and-Windows-7-8-1-15-40-?product=88357 Intel® Beta Graphics Driver for Windows® 10 and Windows 7*/8.1* [15.40]

You will need to install the driver manually, please follow the steps http://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/graphics-drivers/000005629.html How to Manually Install an Intel® Graphics Driver in Windows® 10 & Windows 8* or Windows 8.1*

Try also to update the http://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/graphics-drivers/000005952.html INF file for your Monitor/TV; you will need to contact your monitor manufacturer in order to update this driver.

If these troubleshooting steps do not solve your problem, most likely your laptop ports have a resolution limitation by your computer manufacturer and it will be better to contact them to get further assistance.

Best regards,

Ivan
