Hello, Bill_S:

Here you can find the drivers to be installed in your system.

http://www.dell.com/support/home/us/en/04/product-support/product/inspiron-17-n7010/drivers http://www.dell.com/support/home/us/en/04/product-support/product/inspiron-17-n7010/drivers

Just select the correct OS and look for video drivers.

If you are still not able to install them, please provide me with the Intel® System Support Utility report from your system.

How to get that report?

-Access: https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/25293/Intel-System-Support-Utility https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/25293/Intel-System-Support-Utility

-Download the utility

-Scan your system with the utility

-Export the report and attach it to your answer with the advanced editor option

I look forward to hearing from you.

Regards,

I have already done this and the driver (AMD ATI Mobility Radeon™ HD3650/HD3450/HD 3670/HD4570/HD565v/HD4670/HD4330/HD5450/HD5650/HD5470/HD4200/HD5730/HD550v/HD540v/HD545v Graphics Driver) is the most up to date. It looks like it may not be intel, but the device manager on my computer says Intel, with no further details..

Hello, Bill_S:

Thank you for your answer on this.

I would like to confirm this information, would you please provide me with the dxdiag report?

This report can be pulled or created with any system, here the instructions on how to get it.

1. Press the windows key + R

2. Type dxdiag in the Run window that you get and hit enter.

3. Look for the "Save all information" button and type a name for the file.

4. Attach the exported file into your answer, this can be done with the advanced editor found in the upper right corner after hitting the reply button

I look forward to hearing from you.

I would like to check, is your device working properly?

As per the OEM website, it has both Intel and AMD graphics card, iGPU for Intel and dGPU for AMD, this is a regular configuration.

As you said previously, the dGPU is up to date so we shouldn't have a problem from that side.

Here you can find the latest driver to be installed for your CPU (Intel® Core™ i5-480M Processor)

Hope you can get this installed, please let me know how it goes.

I went to the link that you supplied and installed the driver. I still have the problem, but it has changed somewhat. I still get the momentary black screen and the accompanying tone, but the resolution of the display doesn't seem to change radically as it did before. I am also still getting the notifications that the resolution of the "clone" screen is not optimal, that the optimal is 800 x 600.

Thank you for your answer Bill_S.

In the link that I gave you, under "Other Versions", you can find earlier drivers that have been released, I would like to recommend you to test them in order to troubleshoot this.
