How does the Motherboard shutdown control by USB works in the DC DC automotive NUC supply ?

I recently bought the DC DC automotive power supply NUC to supply my Skull canyon f(DCDC-NUC, 6-48V automotiove power supply for NUC, 12V or 19V output ).

It works very good and I experienced the *Motherboard shutdown control by USB" feature. The board can send a shutdown signal to the Skull canyon over USB only.

My question is : how does all this work ?

How is it possible to send a shutdown/restart signal over the USB cable only ?  Could somebody please explains the basics ? I need to understand that.

PS. The DC DC NUC is recognized as HID.

Thanks in advance for sharing that
