I have some roaming issues with my laptops (windows 10 laptops with Intel AC-8260 - driver 18.0.40.9). I will connect them using 802.11r features. Is it possible? Wireless infrastructure is Cisco Wireless Lan Controllers. Thanks

Hi,

I tried to activate Fast BSS Transition on my Wireless controller but the client shouldn't associate correctly. Here are resume of debugs from my wlc :

  1. Association received from mobile on BSSID
  2. Marking this mobile as TGr capable
  3. Processing RSN IE type 48, length 22 for mobile
  4. Sending assoc-resp with status 43 (invalid AKMP)
  5. Including FT Mobility Domain IE (length 5) in Initial assoc Resp to mobile
  6. Sending Assoc Response to station on BSSID 04:da:d2:8b:a9:99 (status 43)
  7. Scheduling deletion of Mobile Station
  8. Deleting mobile on AP

Something to do at client side?

Thanks and regards

OlivierWiFi,

The Intel® Dual Band Wireless-AC 8260 supports 802.11r on Windows® 10 when the recommended driver from the Computer manufacturer is used, as second option, you can try the Generic version of Intel® PROSet/Wireless Software and Drivers for Windows® 10 found in this link: https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/25833/Intel-PROSet-Wireless-Software-and-Drivers-for-Windows-10?product=86068 Intel® PROSet/Wireless Software and Drivers for Windows® 10 - Version: 18.40.0

Please, review this documentation from Cisco* that has configuration details, you may also find the restrictions for 802.11r Fast Transition to make sure your system complies with Cisco* requirements: http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/wireless/controller/8-0/configuration-guide/b_cg80/b_cg80_chapter_01001101.html Cisco Wireless Controller Configuration Guide, Release 8.0

Please note that Pre-Shared Key (PSK) and Open Networks are currently not supported with 802.11r in Windows® 10. You may check the following link from Microsoft* for details: https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/windows/hardware/mt484190(v=vs.85).aspx Fast Roaming with 802.11k, 802.11v, and 802.11r

Hi,

Apparently, my system complies with Cisco requirements. I asked Cisco about my problems but any answers.

At this time, I can't connect the laptop to my Wireless infrastructure using 802.11r. Driver is 18.40.0.

I see the following 802.11i status code :

43 (802.11i) Authentication and Key Management Protocol (AKMP) not valid

Maybe it is not right place to ask question.

How about AC7265 card? Does that card support 802.11r under Windows 10?

So either the AC-7260 doesn't support 802.11r or there is still some issue with the driver?
