Had to reboot the computer, because of driver failure. Computer would no longer boot. Will not even go into the bios. Check video card, and RAM are good, change motherboards get same symptoms with different motherboard . Cannot check CPU. Could this be a CPU failure.

Hi Hellen, no I never was able to contact the support Center. It is so hard to figure out for someone like me, who's never done this before with Intel. They want you to do so many things and don't explain to you "how". I haven't even been able to figure out how to register the i7-4790k that I purchased.

Good news is that I found out it was a motherboard that was the problem. I guess that's good news??. Not the i7.

Bad news, I still can't figure out how to register my CPU with Intel. Do they not want you to register their products that you buy from them? If they did you think they just put a tab which says register your product here. Anyway I do appreciate the response and was surprised that I did receive one. If you know of a simple way for me to register my product I would really like to know. Other than that thank you for your response and all is well.

Regards John

Hello again Helen, I watched the video that you provided with the link. Follow that to the letter. I went to "registrationcenter.Intel.com" as shown. Put in my email address and tried to put in a serial number. But it kept saying it was the wrong format. Since both links with the same I couldn't use the other link that you provide. Serial number only comes in one format on the box. It's all one long number no breaks. I tried putting it in the format that was shown but it didn't work either. Do you have different registration sites for software and hardware. Because it feels like this is the case. Again this is another frustrating situations I keep running into dealing with Intel.

I do appreciate your time and effort with this. I really would like to register this CPU. But I'm beginning to believe that it may not be possible. At least for mere mortals.

Regards

John

Hello Helen, well since it turned out that the motherboard was at fault. And not the CPU. And that the i7-4790k is indeed working as advertised. I Didn't need to return anything to Intel. Which honestly wasn't much of a surprise. Considering I've never had a Intel CPU die on me.Even in the 25+ years of using them.

And also, apparently there's no reason to register your CPUs beforehand. So I guess all is good.

So to answer your original question. Yes, the information provided help me.But, I am impressed as to the fact that you are inquiring about this.Even so long after the fact. That you are still concerned about my small problem. Which also means that Intel hasn't forgotten about me.

Thank you so much. Really!

With Respect and Gratitude

John
