Hello Intel community.

I have a Lenovo Y510P with Intel HD 4600 & Nvidia GT755M. I want to know if it is possible to achieve more than 60hz on a external screen? I have a 144HZ Monitor and want 120hz over HDMI (Im running at 1024x768).

Thanks in advance.

Hello, X3VeZ:

Thank you for contacting the Intel Communities.

From Intel® HD Graphics end, we are aware that different resolutions can run up to 60 Hz, more than that we cannot assure it is going to work properly.

My recommendation would be to double check with your OEM or Nvidia if this can be achieved with this device, this is because they integrated (OEM-Lenovo) and created the GPU (Nvidia), for that reason they could provide you with more accurate information about how their product works.

I look forward to hearing from you on the possible outcome provided by the other partners.

If any additional questions or inquiries are present, feel free to contact us back.

Hello, X3VeZ:

I was checking this thread and I would like to know if you were able to get the 120hz from your device after checking with it's manufacturer.

Additionally, I would like to share this chart with the HDMI versions that support 1920x1080 at 120hz

HDMI version11.11.2 / 1.2a1.3 / 1.3a / 1.3b / 1.3b1 / 1.3c1.4 / 1.4a / 1.4b22.11920×1080 resolution at 120 HzNoNoNoNoYesYesYes

A high speed DisplayPort would also do the job for this.

I look forward to hearing from you.

Alright, so i succesfully made custom resolutions for my 144hz screen. But since its HDMI output is ver 1.3 it cant output more than 75hz. I recently bought a hdmi to dvi dual link from ebay. Do you think it will work?

Thank you for your answer on this.

In this case, it most likely will be on the adapter side, for sure, it has to be active (if available) and capable of reaching that amount of bandwith/workload, but unfortunately I cannot make sure it is going to work due to the fact the interface's technology/standard is to work up to 75hz as previously advised.

Please keep us posted on this for further information on how this can be achieved or not with adapter.

Esteban C

X3VeZ:

I was checking this thread and wondered if you were able to perform the tests with the adapter bought.

Unfortunately the pictures on the adapter was bad so I bought a DVI-I which my monitor doesn't support. I ordered a DVI-D and it should come within the next 2 days if the estimated shipping is right. I will keep you updated when it arrives. And sorry for the fact that i haven't updated on all the stuff.

I am sorry to hear that X3VeZ, and not a problem, lets wait for this adapter and perform the tests, hope it works as desired.

So for some reason the 120hz is deleted when it's connected via DVI-D. Shouldn't the profile always be there? If so is there any way to patch the maximum exceed on the 4600 HD?

UPDATE: So i tried to make resolutions with the Intel custom resolution thing, and it worked but only on the desktop. So somehow i should try to make it available in my game aswell.

UPDATE: I did it! After months of research I finally got 120hz with intergrated graphics card. I just had to restart my PC (amateur i know hah). Things I used in the process

-Intel's CustomModeApp (should be preinstalled)

-ToastyX Custom Resolution Utility

-ASUS VG248QE

And I will be using the LightBoost Feature with Strobelight by ToastyX

So Esteban. After all, Intel HD 4600 does somehow support more than 60hz with a external monitor with help from third-party programs.

I am glad to hear that X3VeZ, it is good to know that your were able to achieve this with third party software and I thank you for sharing it with peers in here.

I will be setting your last answer as "Correct Answer" to finish up with this thread, hope thats ok.
