I just updated IntelProcessor Diagnostic Tool 64bit to the latest version and one test is failing.
1 degrees C below maximum
Test Result - FAIL
Expected Greater than 1 degrees below max
Received 1 degrees below max
Test FAILED
Please check your Processor Thermal Solution
Temperature Monitor Stopped
I've never seen this error before.
Of course, I did not run the test with the older version of the tool prior to upgrading. My question is, has the test changed so that it's more sensitive or do I really have an issue and if so, specifically, what do I do about it?
My "rig" is about 6 years old.

I also installed the Intel Processor Diagnostic Tool (Revision 3.0.0.25.W.MP) and unexpectedly received a failed temperature test immediately after the test began. There are no stability problems at all when the CPU runs different applications at 100% load. The processor I am using is a Pentium 4 662 which has Thermal Monitoring Technologies according to the following link to specifications:

The motherboard model is Gigabyte GA-8ANXP-D. The BIOS settings indicate that Thermal Monitoring 2 is enabled.
Not all of the Pentium 4 processors have Thermal Monitoring Technologies. Perhaps the diagnostic tool is not running the temperature test correctly because of confusion about which models have Thermal Monitoring. Please help solve this problem I am having with the Intel Processor Diagnostic Tool:

PhilO, note the following, the CPU Frequency is still too high;

The highest you are supposed to get with this processor is 3.33 and that value is the max turbo frequency. It seems that something in your motherboard configuration is overclocking the processor. Since you already loaded the defaults and this still persists I would recommend contacting http://www.gigabyte.com/support-downloads/support-downloads.aspx GIGABYTE - Support in order to obtain more feedback.

Well, I just ran the tests again and the detected CPU frequency is only 3.09837 (see test results below).
I have not changed a thing in the BIOS. I am running the same version of your dx tool. I think there is a bug in your software.

I have been running some tests with the Intel® Processor Diagnostic Tool and the tool behaves as expected. At this stage, I would recommend contacting http://www.gigabyte.com/support-downloads/support-downloads.aspx GIGABYTE - Support since it looks like something in your motherboard configuration is overclocking the processor.
