Intel my wifi technology: Adapter is not found

I just purchased Toshiba E205 4 days ago. On the first day of the purchase, I tried the WIDI function and it was working. However, I just tried it again today and it said "Intel my wifi technology not enabled. Please restart you computer and try again" and I did but it still not working. I noticed at the intel's icon at the bottom right and it says "apadter not found" so I could not even go and try to click enable or disable button. Please let me know to to solve this problem.

          Hi Komsit,

I would recommend doing a complete uninstall of the Intel(R) PROSet Wireless Software - http://www.intel.com/support/wireless/wlan/sb/CS-030416.htm.

Then download the software and review the instructions on How to install Intel® My WiFi Technology (Intel® MWT) - http://www.intel.com/support/wireless/wlan/mywf/sb/CS-030009.htm to ensure that the software is installed properly.

Let me know if this resolves your issue.

I have taken these steps but it did not resolve my problem. I have a Toshiba E205-S1904 and tried to update the driver via a package and now I have no WiFi adapter (not found( and I cannot recognize any wireless network in my area. and I know there are at least 5 of them.

Any assistance you could provide would be greatly appreciated.

I'm getting the exact same error on my Toshiba E205. I first noticed it after installing some Windows updates. I uninstalled these but that didn't fix the problem. I also tried the steps mentioned above and they didn't fix the problem either. I've updated all drivers from the Toshiba and Intel websites too. Please help us out!!!

                Hi Ilene.

I have been using an older Cisco wireless router for some time and it's been working fine. I just upgraded my router and my new Dell with Vista works like a champ. But my older Dell Inspiron (XP) couldn't see the network. I downloaded new PRO/Wireless SW from Dell and it now sees the network. But I cannot get the router to authorize the laptop (or vice versa?). I've had the laptop generate a code (several times) and registered it with the router and I've plugged the info on the router into PRO/Wireless. They both come back as failed to authorize. Is there something I'm missing or doing wrong? I spent hours on this last night. Many thanks...

My Wireless display was working perfectly and suddenly it stopped working i guess this is because of the latest Windows 7 update, i have a Toshiba Satellite E205 and it has the exactly same issue. Also i downloaded the latest updates for the Intel display and wireless displays from Toshiba website and it did uninstall and install of all the display drivers and i am still getting the same issue. Has anyone resolved this issue, i will wait for some days and if there is no resolution i am planning to return the laptop to Best Buy.

Yet another, same exact issue E205 PSE20U-002001, also immediately after update, also from best buy.  Also going back if I can't figure it out.

Intel Manual Diagnostics Tool passes the first two tests (Hardware & Driver) but the rest just get stuck on "running", and the Troubleshoot button is never enabled...Nothing gets recorded in the "Wireless Event Viewer" even when selecting Enable Driver Event Logging for Standard and Troubleshooting.  WiFi advanced statistics brings up the UAC warning but never does anything...Grrrrrr

In my case it fails the hardware test itself, i am sure this issue is with either Microsft, Intel or Toshiba and all are playing blame games for now. I am going to Best Buy today and will update what the Geek Squad says for this issue.

Please let us know what you find out! I've tried a restore...the E205 will not perform the task. I've also tried a backup so I could do a system recovery and the backup failed, stating I can't perform the task in safe mode which is bull b/c I restarted several times making sure it started up regularly. I'm really at a loss. The wireless display was the main reason I bought the notebook.

OK so here is an update, i went to BestBuy yesterday and spoke to one of the guys in Geek Squad and he didn't had a clue what i was trying to tell. After a long discussion the solution he proposed was he will do a firmware update first (free of cost) and then he will restore the system to the base version (140$ for doing this), i said the firmware update is not going to work as i have done all these ***** and System restore i can do it on my own (why should i pay $140 when the warranty is still there). I also told them that if nothing happens then i would return the laptop then he counter argued saying there would be 15% deduction for the packaging. I said there is a real problem with this laptop and you will start getting compliants about it, I am returning this becasue i have a problem with this. So he agreed to waive the packaging fees on one condition that i would go for the other 2 models not toshiba, i am not going to go for a Dell one which looks Gay to me and Vaio for all its features its too costly. As i had to do a System restore (Start->Accessories->System Tools -> System Restore) i left the store recahed home and was able to do a restore dated 8th April 2010 and what it started working. So looks like this is all beacause of the Windows Update after that this has happend. To confirm i updated windows again and it stopped working. So the only solution is do a Restore for the date i mentioned and then disable Windows Update till someone in Intel/Toshiba finds a fix for this.

I wish I had the time to step through micro$oft updates one at a time to let everyone know which one is breaking the Intel My Wifi, but I probably won't.  However count this post as confirmation that it is a windows update that is breaking it... I also did a system restore, to the earliest point I could find (only a couple of days ago) and my Intel utility is also now working fine.  I haven't disabled windows updates, but I'm keeping an eye on the utility in the system tray, which will complain as soon as it's broken again and maybe I can post more then...

Interesting issue being observed on this thread. It would be helpful to find out a date range of when this happened and which Windows 7 update may be believed to be involved in the issue (or group of window updates around the time period of the occurance). While I don't think this may be  associated, I assume that everyone has updated thier Intel wireless display version to 1.2 . Toshiba update page has Wireless display update 1.2 at : http://www.csd.toshiba.com/cgi-bin/tais/support/jsp/modelContent.jsp?ct=SB&os=&category=&moid=2520788&rpn=PSE20U&modelFilter=E205-S1904&selCategory=3&selFamily=1073768663

and the Intel update page for Intel Wireless Display also has the same update :

Here is some additional information that may be helpful.

Users with Toshiba's ConfigFree* (Connectivity Doctor*) utility on Microsoft Windows 7* need to update the ConfigFree utility to version 8.0.27 or later.

To detect the current version and confirm whether you need to upgrade, please download the applet (from http://www.csd.toshiba.com/cgi-bin/tais/support/jsp/download.jsp?ct=DL&soid=2632929&ref=EV) and install it.  This software will detect the current version and indicate whether you need to upgrade the ConfigFree utility.

If the above action indicates you need to upgrade, download and install the updated Toshiba ConfigFree utility* from Toshiba's support website.
